This month we’re featured in Retail & Leisure International talking about our passion for the design process and why it’s an important part of any design brief and project. At Shed it’s our vision to create unique branded interior design that is an extension of the brand we’re designing for. That means creatively, and sometimes sensitively, taking into account the unique space and environment we’re working in, and making it come alive for a brand. That environment could be a clifftop in Bali or a disused railway arch in East London, safe to say we’ve worked in a lot of different environments! There’s never an off the shelf solution and as a result, our team is skilled at adapting to a range of creative briefs whether that be across retail design for a large luxury retailer such as Lotte in South Korea, hospitality design for a coastal beach club hotel in Bali for The Mandala Group or a workplace designed interior to impress clients for The Office Group.
We have a proven design process that forms our thinking, and involves our expert team of skilled architects, graphic designers, 3D modelers, artists and manufacturers to ensure we deliver exactly to a brief and create a memorable space that expertly serves its purpose.
What’s needed during the design process?
Ultimately it comes down to communication and respect.
Communication for understanding, and to constantly deepen our knowledge for a brand, the target consumer and the environment. And respect for clients and our team because every opinion matters and the design process is a collaborative one, and one to be enjoyed.
We believe that the key skills that are most important in a design team are open mindedness, problem-solving & collaboration. They foster energy and an exchange of ideas that in our experience always results in the right idea. And, we’re pleased to say, often makes them award-winning, like our Birdies Crazy Golf project winning recently in the Restaurant and Bar Design Awards.
The key to succeeding in design is having a passion for the creative process. This is an in-depth process which involves research into consumer behaviour as well as country-specific lifestyle factors which all play a crucial part in our final design. The relationship with the client is vital here too. Clients trust us with their brand and our interior architecture design work is an extension of their brand. Only by knowing our clients, do we fully understand their brand and what their vision is for a project.
